A FENWICK care home has received a positive inspection report, with residents and families praising the quality of care and support.
Hallhouse Care Home, located on Main Street and operated by Hallhouse Care Limited, was rated as 'good' by the Care Inspectorate in an unannounced visit in August 2026.
Inspectors highlighted "kind and caring interactions" between residents and staff, noting that people were "genuinely cared for by a team of staff who knew them."
Relatives described staff as approachable and felt welcomed and well informed about their loved one’s care, while praising the home’s environment and the quality of its home baking.
Inspector feedback noted improvements to the care home’s surroundings, including the development of a garden courtyard to give residents more access to outdoor space.
Personal care plans were described as detailed and person-centred, covering individual needs and preferences in areas such as nutrition, skin care, and emotional well-being.
Inspectors also observed that residents had appropriate access to healthcare professionals, incorporating input from GPs, community nurses, occupational therapists, and dieticians into their care.
However, the report did identify areas for improvement.
While staff were described as dedicated and compassionate, families felt staffing levels were not always sufficient, with some reporting delays in call bell responses.
Staff also noted that workload pressures limited opportunities for meaningful, personalised engagement with residents.
The Care Inspectorate recommended that staffing resources be reviewed to ensure they fully meet residents’ care needs.
They also advised further improvements in communication and workplace culture to help staff feel more supported in raising concerns and sharing feedback.
The care home had 38 residents at the time of inspection and has not had any upheld complaints since its previous review.
